I think it would be an improvement if they did show up, as most replies within comments are to one of the previous comments though people neglect to post your nick in their response (and couldn't care less I figure)

Also it could be handy to include your own posts in the mentions tab so you'd get an all-in-one hub for everything concerning you..

At top, you'll see "Posts" "Comments" etc. There you'll find comments on posts you have commented on, liked, or subscribed to, whether you have a mention or not. You own posts are under the "Me" link, at the top. I don't think those will be combined under the Mentions tab, as they are really separate things. The mentions in comments idea is a bit harder to implement, but I know they are looking at it.
