I'm going job hunting tomorrow... I'd like to continue to work in the kitchen of a restaurant! *crosses fingers*
I hate to burst your bubble, but you're never going to find a job in food service with weekends off, unless you tend bar during the week. If you want weekends off, you're going to need to change careers. Food service lives and dies on the weekends and if you can't work weekends, you're not worth much to them. I know it's harsh, but it's business. I wish you the best though. I would suggest reporting your manager to corporate for retaliatory behavior. That crap shouldn't be tolerated either.
I will go one step further. Full time hours are now usually only available to Managment. With a majority of those being a salaried position expected to work 50-55 hours per week.
My expertise on the food industry consists of one year as pimple boy conveyor belt monkey #7 at Carl's Jr and as a dishwasher at a restaurant for a year and I think Jo Jo is right. Because brunch.
Dan........... That's happening across the country.
No matter what, I wish you the very best of luck. I hope you find something with a big pay raise, weekends off, and that you really love. ??
